Young Minds Build Bridges

CITYarts engages youth and professional artists in the creation of public art, including murals and mosaic. Through this creative process, CITYarts empowers, educates, and connects youth and children locally and around the world to become active participants in realizing their potential and transforming communities. Young Minds Build Bridges program strengthens bonds among youth worldwide and helps to foster positive relationships among young people from diverse backgrounds. This program connects youth in NYC and their peers around the globe through Pieces for Peace art education workshops, the Pieces for Peace international traveling exhibition and Peace Wall murals. CITYarts has created nearly 300 projects that have transformed communities and impacted over 100,000 kids, collaborated with more than 500 artists, partnered with over 1,500 sponsors, and engaged over 500,000 volunteers.

Pieces for Peace is a workshop hosted by CITYarts that provides the opportunity for students to learn creative concept development and art skills. The workshop is centered on the idea of peace globally as well as in peoples’ community and personal lives. Students express their ideas by creating an artwork as part of the Young Minds Build Bridges program that strives to foster positive relationships among young people from diverse backgrounds.
