Colorhouse Mural - Alexander RobertsonCommunity Identity Archive
(Manhattan - 2015)
NEW YORK, NY–(Marketwired – Mar 16, 2015) – Colorhouse, a company specializing in paint formulated without volatile organic compounds (VOCs), recently partnered with the nonprofit CITYarts to bring the students of Alexander Robertson School in New York City a hands-on, mural painting experience. Together, they created a 400-square foot mural designed to represent the Colorful connection people have to each other and the natural world. Painted entirely with Color house environmentally-friendly, low odor paint, the mural is now a permanent and meaningful addition to the school’s auditorium.
“I strongly believe that when kids create, they do not destroy,” said Executive and Creative Director of CITYarts Tsipi Ben-Haim. “We must involve our youth in doing good in the world. It all starts through the artistic process of creating a mural in their immediate environment.”
Color house will continue its support for CITYarts’ mission to bring young people and professional artists together to make public art by providing paint for future murals in schools throughout the city. In celebration of Earth Day, Color house is donating $1 of every gallon of paint sold between April 18 – April 26 to the New York-based nonprofit. Color house paint can be purchased at 45 Home Depot stores throughout New York City and online at www.colorhousepaint.com.
“We know how color transforms an interior space and influences mood and behavior,” said Puji Sherer, Chief Color Nerd at Color house. “By partnering with CITYarts, we are joining their effort to make a positive impact on communities through color and art.”
