We Can Stop the Speed of Climate Change 2022

In collaboration with the Work, Learn, Grow Environmental Corp, CITYarts produced a mural, titled We Can Stop the Speed of Climate Change to encourage young people to ask: “What can I do to help combat the speed of climate change?” By doing so, they raised awareness and promoted sustainability to all community members who encounter the work of art while beautifying a public space for the community. A collaboration with NYPD invited policemen to the school for students to get to know the role of the police. The mural lives inside the Dyckman Community Center located in Manhattan. CITYarts.
Through this project, students were able to beautify a neighborhood space to make it more welcoming and enjoyable for the community. The mural also brought together youth from different schools to collaborate on an exciting project. Designing and painting the mural empowered youth to take leadership roles in acting as a positive force in their community. Now, the students’ mural raises awareness to the speed and effects of climate change and promote sustainable practices. The project also facilitated the building of better relationships between youth and the NYPD.
